Working with children means I get to join in with making different arts and crafts things with the children. Autumn is one of my favourite times of the year so I thought I would share some of my favourite craft ideas.
Hedgehog:
You will need:
Paper plates
Brown paint/felt tips
Black felt tip
Stick eyes
Leaves
Glue
Firstly you need to cut your paper plate in half. Cut out a small semi circle shape on one side of the plate for his head. Then using your brown paint/felt tips colour the paper plate so there is no white left. Next you need to add the leaves at the top of the paper plate for the hedgehog's spikes. Do this using the glue. You will then need to stick two eyes on your hedgehog towards the bottom right corner. Draw on a smile using your black felt tip and your hedgehog is ready to go.

Owl:
You will need:
2 paper plates
Brown paint/felt tips
2 circle shaped white card
Black felt tip
Sellotape
Glue
1 triangle shaped white card
Orange felt tip
Firstly you will need to paint/colour your two paper plates brown. Once you have done that you will need to cut one paper plate in half. Set them aside as you will need them later. Using the two circle shaped card colour a small orange circle in the middle of each. Add smaller black circles into the middle of the orange circles. Next you need to colour the triangle shaped card orange. Using the glue you want to stick the eyes and beak on the paper plate you left whole. Once dry you can use the sellotape to stick the two half paper plates on to the back of the other paper plate. Once complete your owl is ready.

(I don't know why the owl has been posted sideways but for some reason I can't change it.)
Lion:
You will need:
1 paper plate
Yellow paint/felt tip
Leaves
Sticky eyes
Black felt tip
Glue
Sellotape
Firstly you will need to paint/colour the paper plate yellow. Then using the sellotape you need to stick your leaves all around the back of the paper plate to look like the mane. Once you have done this you can stick the eyes on the paper plate using the glue. Using the black felt tip draw a face on to the paper plate. Your lion is now roaring and ready to play.

Fox:
You will need:
1 paper plate
Orange paint/felt tip
Sticky eyes
Black felt tip
Sellotape
Glue
To make your fox you will need to cut your paper plate into a large triangle. Then you will need to cut two smaller triangles from the leftover paper plate. You will then need to paint/colour your three triangles orange. Using the sellotape stick the two smaller triangles to the top of the big triangle. Then you can stick the eyes to your fox using the glue. Next colour a small circle at the bottom of the triangle. Your fox is now ready to go.

I may be 25 years old but I really enjoyed making these. You and your children will have so much fun making these autumn creatures yourself. Give them a go and send me the pictures to share with everyone.
