The Grinch Review

This weekend my family, my boyfriend and I went to see the new Grinch film and I can honestly say I enjoyed it. There were positives and negatives throughout the film but overall it was enjoyable. It isn't the best film out of all the Grinch films, that still belongs to the 2000 film with Jim Carrey playing the Grinch. The Grinch was funny however I was expecting it to be funnier. There were a couple of jokes that did make me chuckle but I was expecting lots of big laughs. One part of the film that really bothered me was the family dynamic of Cindy Lou Who. I wasn't a big fan of the fact they had made Cindy-Lou's mother a single mum with three children. I have nothing against single mothers it would have been nice to have kept her Dad in the room as in the Jim Carrey film the father was quite an important character. In this remake the Grinch wasn't made out to be as cruel as he is, and the Who's in Who town don't seem to fear him or have a problem in tolerating him. I thought the reason behind him hating Christmas was a little rushed, there didn't seem to be a good explanation. I liked Fred the reindeer, he was cute, however it just seemed a little unnecessary. I did enjoy the film. It does seem to be a film more aimed at children for the adults aswell. I'm glad I watched the film but this one won't be on the list every year.
