Christmas Traditions

Everyone has different traditions they carry out around this time of year. Some traditions others might find silly and some traditions others do as well. Me and my family are no different. We have traditions we stick to as well. The first tradition I am looking forward to is watching a daily Christmas film with my boyfriend. We have this challenge to watch a different Christmas film everyday starting from the 1st December until Christmas Day. We have had this tradition for the last four years and I can't wait for it again this year.

Buying a Christmas tree and decorating the house. This is something we both love doing. We always make a really good day of it, going to pick out the best tree we can find and then decorating the house together. It's something we look forward to each year.

Every year for the last four years me and my boyfriend have brought each other an advent calendar. For the first two years we surprised each other with which calendar we got each other. But for the last two years we have told each other which one we wanted. My mum laughed at me the other day for being "too old" for an advent calendar but it just isn't the same without one. I love having an advent calendar and I will always have one.

An old tradition my family used to have was to spend the evening of Boxing Day at my Nan's house for a buffet. We would do it every year and it was always such a nice way to spend time with the entire family. I miss these times but it is nice to make new traditions.

Another tradition I am going to miss is one I have done with my boyfriend and his family for the last two years on Christmas Day. On the morning of Christmas Day me and my boyfriend make his parents a cup of tea, he takes them up to them in bed and then once they are up we open a few presents together sat in the living room with a Christmas CD playing. A few hours later me and my boyfriend go around to his sisters house for a bacon sandwich for breakfast and we swap gifts with them. It is something that seems so simple but yet it is something I am going to miss big time this year. Christmas with his family is wonderful but I am also going to enjoy spending Christmas with my family this year.

And now I am starting a new tradition (providing I can stick to it of course). Posting a blog post everyday from the 1st December up until Christmas Day. I'm looking forward to doing this each and every year. I can't believe we are already 7 days into this. Making Christmas traditions is brilliant and I look forward to making new traditions when I have my own children. Christmas is my favourite time of year so I love all the little things that make Christmas special. Another thing me and my boyfriend love to do is visit the festive shop in Cwmbran when it opens so we can get in that festive spirit.

Another new tradition I am starting this year is I am completing a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle before Christmas. I started it on the 1st December and I want to finish it by Christmas Day. Wish me luck.

Only 16 days to go!
