Christmas Craft Ideas

  • Dec 22, 2016
  • 2 min read

Working in childcare means I get to come up with a lot of different arts and crafts ideas. My ultimate favourite time to do this is Christmas time. I love making art and crafty things and I can't wait to have my own children so I can do it with them.

Peg dolls -

You will need:

  • Wooden pegs

  • Paint/felt tips

  • Paper leafs

  • Crepe paper

  • Paper wings

  • Glue

The first thing you will need to do is use your paint/felt tips to draw on the top half of the dress. I used felt tips but if you use paint you can finger paint it. The next thing you will need to do is use the glue to stick on the leaf skirt. I used two leafs but you can use as many as you like. Then using the crepe paper I stuck it on top of the peg to look like hair. Using paper I cut out two wing shapes and coloured them the same colour as the dress and stuck them to the back of the peg. And there we have a pretty peg doll. I was going to take a photo of my peg doll but in a big rush I forgot to do it before I left to come to my mums.

As you can see this isn't my picture but it is a perfect example of how to do a peg doll.

Reindeer food - You will need:

  • Porridge

  • Glitter

  • A clear bag

  • Ribbon

Reindeer food is birlliant to make and it is super simple too. The first thing you need to do is mix your dry porridge and glitter together. Next, using a spoon put the mixture into a clear bag. Tie it up and done. You now have reindeer food. To make it extra special you can add a nice little poem to it. Mine says

"Sprinkle this mix on the lawn tonight,

The moon will make it sparkle bright!

And santa's reindeer, flying high,

Will see the food and drop on by."

Paper Snowflakes -

You will need:

  • Paper

  • Scissors

To make my paper snowflakes I cut my paper into circles. Then with the circles you need to fold them in half and then in half again. Using your scissors cut different patterns in your snowflakes. Unfold and done. These snowflakes will look really pretty stuck to your window.

Paperchains -

You will need:

  • Paper

  • Glue

The first thing I did was to cut my paper into strips. Use different coloured pieces of paper to make it look extra special. Glue one end of a paper strip to the other and make a circle. With the next strip loop it into the first strip, glue the end and make another circle creating a chain. Keep going until you have achieved your desired length.

I hope you have all enjoyed these Christmas crafts. Be sure to try them out and send me your creations.

Only 3 days to go!
