My Husband's Son - Deborah O'Connor Book Review

3 out of 5 stars.

You'd always recognise your own son. Wouldn't you? Heidi and Jason aren't like other couples. Six years ago, Heidi's daughter was murdered. A year later, Jason's son Barney disappeared. Their shared loss brought them together. By chance, Heidi meets a boy she's certain is Barney. But Jason is equally convinced it's not him. Is Heidi mad? Or is Jason hiding something? And can their fragile marriage survive Heidi's newfound quest for the truth...

Heidi and Jason met at a support group for parents whose children had gone missing. Heidi had been a single mother and Jason's marriage broke up when he and his wife lost Barney. Heidi believes she's seen Barney living in a shop close to home. Jason takes a visit but insists the boy isn't Barney. Heidi can't forget the boy and continues to investigate against the wishes of her husband.

When I read the blurb for this book I thought it sounded brilliant. As I started reading it I just couldn't really get into it. Heidi irritated the hell out of me. She made some very stupid decisions that just made me want to slap some sense into the woman. Not to ruin the book but throughout the whole thing it made it seem like Jason was hiding some big secret which was never revealed. I found the whole book repetitive. Personally I wouldn't want to read it again. I wouldn't really recommend it either but if you do read it you may feel differently to me and you might just enjoy it more than I did. If you do read this book let me know what you think about it.
